Stuff About Skid

Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Alice Cooper, Miles Davis and Alex Harvey have inspired Skid Baxter,
the brainchild of musician/composer/author/home-brewer Vinnie Salvatore.

Vinnie Salvatore is a guitarist with Rat Bastard Syndicate, a skull-crushing rock band from Columbus, Ohio featuring Steve Theado (guitar & vocals), Lennard James (bass & vocals) and Keith Pickens (drums). Theado, Pickens and Salvatore are former members of the mighty American Dog.

Vinnie recorded and toured with American Dog during the final years of the band (2013 - 2015) and appears on their 7th studio album, Neanderthal (2014), as well as the 2 disk best-of / live, Unfinished Business (2017). In 2014 American Dog toured the United States with Tesla and The Vegabonds - and Europe with Blue Coupe, Lez Zeppelin and Skinny Molly.

From 2009 to 2013, he recorded and toured with The Godz,, the American hard rock band fronted by the legendary Eric Moore, in which Vinnie juggled both guitar and bass guitar duties The Godz released a brand-new studio album, Last of the Outlaws, in 2012. Salvatore was also a guitarist for Planet 9 during 2012 and 2013 to help the band meet its touring obligations while Ron Zingaro was on hiatus, including dates with American Dog.

SKID BAXTER NEWS
The writing of music is a never-ending process, kind of like eating and sleeping, thereby making an album of new Skid Baxter music that much closer to becoming a reality.  Asked about what people should expect, Mr. Baxter stated "hopefully, people will think something completely different after hearing it than what they thought before they heard it." The issue of course is making time to record it and generating enough money to pay for it all without resorting to crowd funding.

UPDATE - April 2018 - Re-issue...ISSUES
These plans have been in motion for quite some time, but now that the record business is completely in the toilet, does it make financial sense for us to put out any more hard-copy CDs? It's debatable, but most folks would say "no," which does not necessarily mean it won't happen. In fact, chances are better than ever thanks to today's technology, coupled with our networking efforts in recent years.

But it goes without saying that Rat Bastard Syndicate is the main priority right now. The band spent the entire winter of 2018 writing, recording new material, and shoring up the administrative department with some exciting new developments (soon to be announced).

Please stay tuned!
